We had a long walk through the nature reserve today, which yielded some great things. A shallow pool at low tide contained a few scattered rocks, and underneath these was a large number of tiny sand-coloured fish, probably gobies, and some larger, black fish. The gobies are timid and quick, but the black fish are relatively slow and not so keen to run away. The boy found them relatively easy to catch. We also found this empty spider crab shell, which was pretty spectacular.

On the way back from the beach, through the reserve, birds were queueing up to pose for photos. The top shot is a female wheatear, and the bottom photo is a yellow wagtail.
