I’ve been a bit disappointed by the dearth of decent moths here in rural heaven in the height of summer. Still, this common footman moth posed nicely on the external timber wall.
Buzzards are surprisingly vocal creatures, and their high-pitched squeal is officially called ‘mewing’, like a cat. They are also very common around the malverns – today a knot of three soared, mewing, over the house, as shown below.
