Early thorn moth Selenia dentaria
Early thorn moth Selenia dentaria

Found this strangely-shaped moth on the window of the office block door this morning. This outline is peculiar to the thorn moths, although this is quite a small one. They usually hold their wings open at a 45 degree angle, but this one is tight shut, which along with the patterning identifies it as the early thorn. Compare my photos last year of a similar moth from Fri 16/09/16.
